Gojek needed to attract senior leadership to scale their business, improve diversity and grow their company culture. See how the three CTO level candidates we placed enabled them to increase their team by more than 100 people.
With a strong presence in Indonesia and India, tech start-up Gojek was about to take on Singapore when we met with them. Specialising in ride-hailing services, logistics, and digital payments, Gojek planned to scale aggressively in Engineering, Product, and Data.
With a demonstrated track record in other markets and fierce competition in Singapore, Gojek needed to move fast and decisively in building their new engineering centre in Singapore. Reflecting their company culture, the workforce needed to be multicultural, but with local visa and work pass constraints, there was also a requirement for local candidates.

We answered Gojek’s call for an agile and airtight strategy to support their expansion by going beyond delivery and provide them with a solution that would genuinely help the business over the long term.
Breathe first worked directly with the VP People, the Group CTO, and Gojek’s small onsite recruitment team to find 200 diverse Engineering, Product, and Data techs without limitations to working in Singapore.
Breathe then identified that the keystone to sustainable scalability was the leadership team. If we could assist Gojek in hiring a diverse and robust leadership team, they would then, in turn, be able to leverage their internal networks in Singapore to facilitate the continued growth required for this fast-moving operation.
During this partnership, we established ourselves as a company that can deliver results and as a business that can see the bigger picture and work with our clients to help them achieve their goals in a way that makes the most sense.
We identified a strong seam of local talent that satisfied Gojek’s needs and onboarded an entirely local team or who had permanent residency in Singapore. We also placed three senior hires, including a Head of Growth, a Head of Risk, and a Head of Data. All of these placements represented a total achievement of what Gojek was looking to accomplish in this new arm of their business.
