A big Data and analytics SaaS platform that helps clients make smarter health decisions needed quality candidates that moved efficiently through to offer and hire. Our strategy quickly onboarded two senior hires and gave them the confidence to focus on other business areas.
The Challenge

Business was going from strength to strength for our client, a big data and analytics SaaS platform, but they needed critical leadership hires to support their growth. Without an onsite HR or recruitment team, they did not have the time or market expertise to efficiently and effectively target, network with, and engage senior hires to attract to their business.

The CTO was keen to work with us to quickly achieve the engagement of a VP of Engineering and a Head of Data Engineering, with a view to assisting them with significant expansion plans for the coming year as the platform set to scale.

As a start-up, they were price sensitive. Engaging external agencies on standard contingent models wasn’t going to work for them, plus the technical expertise required for these roles meant they needed an agency with specific recruitment skills, not applicants from job boards. Added to these challenges, the hiring was not receiving the continual focus it required to build a healthy talent pipeline and ultimately fill all open positions.

Without a dedicated in-house recruiter, they needed a partner like Breathe to deliver senior hires with high-level technical expertise who could work within their brand’s mission. We could see that our clients found the interview process time-consuming and that candidates were often unresponsive or lost through the process.

The Ask
  • Successfully onboard 2 senior hires (VP of Engineering and Head of Data Engineering), both with a strong culture fit and vision, able to drive the growth of their respective departments.
  • To provide a highly curated list of talent to reduce the time invested by the interview panel – conversion rate.
  • To achieve this as fast as possible – time to fill.
  • To move candidates efficiently through the process – time to hire.
The Solution

We worked with the team to optimise the interview process to ensure candidates stayed engaged and educated throughout the process. We worked with the tech team to fully understand their challenges and identify other companies who had worked on similar projects.

Agreed KPIs

To fill 100% of their two senior tech hires – a Head of Engineering and a Head of Data.

Conversion rate. Improve conversion rate across their recruiting funnel. Time wasted on screening CVs and in interviews was having a negative impact on the team.

Time to fill – The positions were time-sensitive, and both senior roles needed to be filled in 3 months so the existing team could be directed towards future business objectives.

Time to hire – Work with the internal team to ensure smooth and efficient processing of candidates within the interview process.

The Breathe team created a solution that gave our clients precise, fast results and provided them with the confidence to focus on driving their business forward. We appreciate the financial strains that come with running a start-up, so we came up with a simple payment structure and customisable strategy. We agreed on key deliverables set against the monthly fee and continue to make recommendations and adjustments as an extension to their internal team.
